Preventive Low-Dose CT Lung Screening

Advanced CT technology that screens for early lung cancer in high-risk patients, using minimal radiation and precise imaging.

LDCT Scan — Precision Lung Screening

A Low-Dose CT (LDCT) scan is a specialized lung screening test that uses significantly lower radiation to detect early signs of lung cancer in people who are at high risk but have no symptoms. With precise, high-resolution imaging, LDCT helps doctors identify small lung nodules and abnormalities at an earlier, more treatable stage.

An accurate, early-detection screening designed to support proactive lung-health management.

LDCT Lung Screening — Who Should Get Tested

A quick guide to eligibility, health considerations, and insurance coverage for Low-Dose CT lung screening.

Who Should Consider LDCT Lung Screening?

LDCT lung screening is recommended for adults at higher risk of lung cancer — especially current or former smokers aged 55+ with a 30 pack-year smoking history. It may also be appropriate for people who previously smoked heavily but quit, those with COPD, a family history of lung cancer, or asbestos exposure. Individuals treated for lung cancer over five years ago may also be considered for screening, depending on their risk profile.

Who May Not Be Suitable for Screening?

Screening is best for people who are generally healthy enough to benefit from treatment if cancer is detected. It may not be suitable for individuals with poor lung function or serious health problems, those who require continuous oxygen, or people with recent unexplained weight loss or coughing up blood. Screening is also usually avoided if a chest CT was done within the past year. A doctor will review each person’s condition before recommending screening.

Insurance Coverage & Scheduling

Most insurance plans — including Medicare Part B — cover annual LDCT lung screening for eligible patients. Speak with your doctor first to confirm whether screening is right for you; if you qualify, your physician will provide a referral so you can schedule the test. While LDCT helps detect cancer early, the most effective way to reduce risk is to quit smoking and avoid secondhand smoke.
