Advanced Cardiac Calcium Scoring

High-resolution CT technology that reveals early signs of coronary artery disease with clarity and confidence, helping you understand your heart-health risk before symptoms appear.

What Is a Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) Scoring CT ?

A Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring CT is a low-dose, non-invasive scan that measures calcified plaque in the coronary arteries — an early indicator of heart-attack risk. Using high-resolution imaging, it helps doctors evaluate coronary artery health quickly and accurately.

A quick and reliable screening that offers clear insight into your heart health for preventive care.

Understanding Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) Scoring CT

Discover how this heart-screening test works, who can benefit from it, and how it helps detect coronary artery disease early.

Common Uses of This Test

Breasts are composed of glands, fibrous tissue, and fat. Women with dense breasts have a higher proportion of fibroglandular tissue and less fat. On a mammogram, fatty tissue appears dark, while dense tissue appears white — the same color as cancer — making tumors more difficult to detect. Breast density cannot be felt and is determined only by a radiologist reviewing mammogram images. Dense breasts are normal and often become less dense with age or after menopause. Because dense tissue can mask cancer, a mammogram may appear “normal” even when cancer is present, making it important to understand your breast density for accurate evaluation. In women over 40 who undergo screening mammography, an additional breast ultrasound may be recommended when a lump, swelling, or dense tissue is present, because dense areas are harder to fully evaluate on mammograms alone.

How Does It Work?

During the exam, the patient lies comfortably on the CT table and holds their breath for a few seconds while the scanner captures high-resolution images of the heart. The scan is quick, safe, and non-invasive. A radiologist reviews the images to detect and measure areas of calcified plaque inside the coronary arteries. The findings are used to generate a Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) Score, which helps estimate the patient’s overall risk of developing heart disease.

Benefits of a CAC Scoring CT

CAC Scoring provides a clearer and more accurate assessment of heart-disease risk than cholesterol levels alone. It allows doctors to detect plaque buildup early — often before symptoms begin — so patients can make informed decisions about lifestyle changes, medication, and preventive care. Because the scan is fast, low-dose, and highly precise, it offers a reliable way to understand heart-health risk with confidence.
