Early Detection with 3D
Mammography
We use Genius™ 3D Mammography™ technology to help improve the early detection of breast cancer — delivering detailed images with comfort and precision at every step of your exam.
What is Mammography?
A Mammogram is an x-ray of the breast. research shows it is the most effective way to detect breast cancer early, often finding cancers before symptoms appear. early detection allows timely treatment and helps reduce the risk of death from breast cancer.
modern mammography technology now produces clearer, more detailed images, giving radiologists better tools to identify areas of concern with confidence.
- Used for both routine screening and diagnostic exams
- Helps detect breast cancer at an earlier stage
- Advanced imaging provides clearer breast tissue detail
- Supports accurate and confident interpretation
We provide advanced breast screening using Hologic Genius 3D™ Mammography.
The Genius 3D Mammography Exam Experience
The Genius exam lets doctors view breast tissue page by page, ensuring no detail is hidden.
What is a Genius™ 3D Mammography™ exam?
3D mammography, also called digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) or the Genius™ exam, is an advanced breast imaging technology that improves early detection of breast cancer. During the exam, each breast is gently compressed once while a low-dose X-ray arm moves in an arc over the breast, capturing multiple images in seconds. A computer then reconstructs these into thin 3D slices—similar to flipping through the pages of a book—so radiologists can examine breast tissue layer by layer instead of viewing it as one flat image. This makes fine details easier to see and reduces the chance that abnormalities are hidden by overlapping tissue. A 2D image can also be generated from the same scan. Studies show that 3D mammography lowers recall rates for additional imaging and helps detect more cancers, especially in women with dense breast tissue.
Who can have a Genius™ 3D Mammography™ exam?
What to Expect During Your Exam
The Genius™ 3D Mammography™ exam is performed in the same way as a standard 2D mammogram, with no additional compression. The X-ray arm moves in an arc over the breast to capture multiple low-dose images, which are then reconstructed into thin, layered 3D slices. This gives radiologists a clearer view of the breast tissue and helps identify concerns earlier and more accurately. The exam only takes a few extra seconds per breast, yet has been shown to increase cancer detection and reduce the need for call-backs for additional imaging — providing greater peace of mind during breast cancer screening.
